The selectors have announced an unchanged team for the second weekend in Scotland on 2-4 March: Paul Denning & Patrick Shields, Peter Goodman & Mike Pownall and John Salisbury & Mike Tedd, with NPC Alan Stephenson and reserves Gary & Dafydd Jones

A small group is looking at how we might improve the WBU's competitions for the season starting next summer. Contributions to the review from WBU members would be very helpful. More background and information here.

Celtic Congress - Fishguard

The WBU is delighted to announce a new congress in the historic Fishguard Bay Hotel on June 29 to July 1 2012. It will be run alongside matches at various levels between Wales and Ireland. The organisers are WWBA and Bridge Overseas, working with the WBU and the CBAI. Brochure

Welsh Cup and Cambria Cup 2011-2012

The Welsh Cup first round draw is online; the format largely follows that which went well in 2010-11, with triples in the first round so that teams get to play two matches. Full regulations (slightly revised in view of the entry numbers).

The Cambria Cup draw is online (GP awards added 12/1/12). It has regionally drawn knockout to reduce the field to four teams who will contest an all-play-all final weekend on 26-27 May 2012.

Events

The Lady Milne trial is on 28-29 January 2012 at Crossgates in Mid-Wales. Arrangements etc. Systems cards.

Area qualifying events for the Teams of Eight representing clubs are held on February 5 (a wrong date was previously given here)

The East Wales Annual Congress is at the YMCA Conference Centre in Newport on February 18-19 2012. As well as the main Swiss teams, there will be events for less experienced pairs using simple systems. Brochure

The Junior Camrose is on 17-19 February in Ireland

The final of the WBU Mixed Pairs is on 25-26 February at the Metropole hotel in Llandrindod Wells

The WBU's St David's Simultaneous Pairs is held in clubs on 27 February to 2 March with different hands each day. More information, and how your club can take part

The final of the WBU National Open Pairs is on 10-11 March at the International Pavilion in Builth Wells

The North Wales Swiss Teams is at the Holiday Inn, Northop on 31 March to 1 April. Brochure
